Giving a mobile number and agreeing to receive SMS are both optional: you can create an account without either, and no consent is a condition of any purchase or of receiving service. Marketing SMS consent is collected separately from service consent.
Verbal opt-in collected during a phone call
This is the verbal consent script used by the TapCall AI receptionist. When a consumer calls a business line answered by TapCall and asks to receive information by text message, the assistant obtains express verbal consent before anything is sent. The exchange is recorded and transcribed, and the transcript is retained on the TapCall account as proof of consent.
Agent: “I can text you that information. Is it okay if I send a text message to the number you are calling from?”
Caller: “Yes.”
Agent: “Great. You will receive one text message from TapCall. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to opt out, or HELP for help.”
Only the specific message the caller asked for is sent, such as an appointment confirmation, a business address or a requested link. No marketing or promotional messages are ever sent through this channel. If the caller does not clearly agree, no message is sent. STOP requests are honored immediately and permanently, and HELP returns our contact details.
